  • A ten year veteran of Drug Free Sport currently serving as Director of Collector Development, Training and Certification. Responsibilities include recruiting, training and maintaining proficiency standards for certified collectors hired to perform specimen collections for Drug Free Sport’s clients.
  • More than 20 years of experience in collegiate athletic training, academics and athletic administration.
     
  • Joined the NCAA in 1995 to assist in administering the national drug-testing program. Prior to her arrival at the NCAA as Assistant Director of Sports Sciences, Thomas served as an associate head athletic trainer and lecturer at Appalachian State University.
     
  • Completed consortium/third party management coursework through the Drug and Alcohol Testing Industry Association (DATIA) and is a Certified Professional Collector Trainer.
  • Was a certified athletic trainer for over 27 years, continues as a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, and has served on various committees and task forces with the organization.
  • Earned master’s degree in physical education with a specialization in athletic training from Indiana State University and a bachelor of science in health and physical education from Longwood University.
     
  • Provides professional outreach and networking for Drug Free Sport through public speaking and organizational consulting services.
  • Has published articles and athletic training textbook chapters related to sports drug testing and has provided over 100 presentations related to the health and welfare of athletes, including drug and alcohol use and deterrence.
